We would like to thank everyone who joined us on Saturday for the preview of the new exhibitions in the Artspace and Gallery One – this was a wonderful afternoon celebrating these exhibitions.
In Gallery One is Chasing the Kerala Chakara by Susan Beaulah, which sheds light on the impact of climate change on traditional fishing communities in Kerala, South India. Featuring portraits of fisherfolk at work on the beaches of villages such as Pallana, Kattoor and Punnapra, Susan’s work reflects the harmony that once existed between people and nature.
Abstract Encounters in the Artspace is a group exhibition featuring the work of eight UK based abstract painters from the Humber Region, as well as Yorkshire, London and Bristol. The exhibition aims to explore connections between the individual practices of the artists, whose work is abstract and that has evolved out of the exploration of colour, the materiality of paint as well as the confines of the artist’s studio space.
Chasing the Kerala Chakara will be open until Sunday, November 16 and Abstract Encounters until Saturday, November 29.
From jewellery making to basket weaving, learning new upholstery skills and fabric printing, or illustrating with watercolours, a Ropewalk workshop can be the perfect gift for someone to indulge their creative side.
