Textile Art/Mixed Media
Nicky Dillerstone is inspired by natural shapes, when walking along the shoreline she looks for shells, small pieces of wood, and anything that catches her eye. Nicky loves the way the sea shapes the wood – smoothing or creating ridges. She celebrates shells by embellishing them with stitch and beading to highlight their shape. By placing them on plinths their wonderful forms can be admired and celebrated.
Nicky loves to create small artworks that draw the eye in with thread or bead detail making a very personal connection with the viewer, finding some meaning with the detail of stitch, beads, threads, fabrics and found objects.
‘We all need moments of reverie where we are still and can imagine’.
