Heather Elvidge is a ceramic artist working from her garden studio in the East Yorkshire Wolds, where the surrounding hedgerows and wildlife quietly find their way into everything she makes.
Working across both sculptural and functional forms, Heather uses sgraffito to carve through black slip and reveal the white clay beneath, drawing each piece by hand as the image slowly unfolds. Hares, foxes and birds often take centre stage within patterned landscapes influenced by folk art, printmaking and folklore.
Rooted in a love of the British countryside, her work evokes a sense of childhood nostalgia and the familiar landscapes that shape our imagination and connection to place. A background in toy packaging and design continues to influence her playful approach to form, illustration and storytelling.
