Deadline draws near for artists wanting to take part in Inprint Biennale

The deadline is drawing near for artists to submit work to be considered tor Inprint Biennale, being held on both sides of the river as part of Hull City of Culture celebrations.

Artists can submit a maximum of two prints or pieces for the exhibition which is being held at Barrton upon Humber’s The Ropewalk and Hull’s Studio Eleven and KAG Gallery from mid September to the end of October. Continue reading »

1980s street style at The Ropewalk in Barton upon Humber

The Ropewalk in Barton has one of its occasional design exhibitions this summer – Dynamic Monochrome Design – featuring the designs of Timney Fowler from a private collection. Every inch of the largest gallery, Artspace, features drama!

Timney Fowler is a postmodern fashion and interior design business which unusually included clothing, furnishing fabrics, ceramics and wallpapers in their portfolio. They even made clothes out of curtain fabric which sold to great acclaim as part of the 1980s street scene. Continue reading »

Arts Council England success for The Ropewalk

The Managing Director of The Ropewalk, Liz Bennet, said she was thrilled to receive confirmation of the success of her application from Arts Council England for both a Small Capital Grant and to continue as a National Portfolio Organisation for the next four years.

In total The Ropewalk will receive a total of more than £568,000 from Arts Council England to continue its work as a regionally acclaimed arts centre. Continue reading »

Five stars for Ropery Coffee Shop as it launches its new food waste policy

The Ropery Coffee Shop, part of The Ropewalk arts centre in Barton upon Humber, has just learnt that it has once again received five stars in the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme operated by North Lincolnshire Council

Following an early November inspection the Coffee Shop has been awarded a maximum of five stars for each of the three categories, food hygiene, structure and cleaning, and confidence in management. Continue reading »

The Ropewalk Christmas Art Market

The highly anticipated Christmas Art Market takes place at Barton upon Humber’s The Ropewalk over the weekend of Saturday December 3 and Sunday December 4.
