The Ropewalk Christmas Art Market
The highly anticipated Christmas Art Market takes place at Barton upon Humber’s The Ropewalk over the weekend of Saturday December 3 and Sunday December 4.
Held over two days for the last five years, a total of 41 makers and artists have been selected to take part in the occasion.
“This year demand for spaces at the Market has been so over-whelming that we have had to limit the number of stalls,” said Laura McNair, organiser of the annual event.
Those taking part have been selected as they sell original handmade gifts, cards and artwork.
“Whatever the weather throws at us on the Art Market weekend it doesn’t matter,” said Laura, the Craft Gallery co-ordinator. “All the makers will have their stalls undercover along the corridor running down the building.”
Amongst those taking part are artists who took part in the northern Lincolnshire open studios event, Insight, as well as other artists selling original artwork and craft.
“The emphasis of this Art Market is on artist made original artwork and selection process reflects this,” Laura continued.
“On sale will be a host of ideas for Christmas gifts including jewellery, prints, paintings, handmade cards, ceramics, and woodwork.”
The Art Market also coincides with the opening weekend of The Ropewalk’s annual Studio Artists’ Show in the Artspace and the Christmas Show in Gallery One which gives further opportunities to purchase that extra special Christmas gift.
The Art Market will also feature the popular Cake Tombola with monies raised going towards the Ropery Hall extension fund.
The Art Market runs from 10am until 4pm on both days and admission is free.
