Barton Food Festival
Final preparations are underway for the first of two Food Festivals being held in Barton this year.
Six months after the final Barton Farmers’ Market, producers return to King Street for the Barton Food Festival which will take place between 9am and 3pm.
Organised by Barton Tourism Partnership the Food Festival aims to fill the gap left by the loss of the monthly Farmers’ Markets.
Cllr Paul Vickers of the Tourism Partnership explained the Festival had attracted support from producers from around the area.
“We are expecting around 20 stalls selling a wide variety of food from chocolate, to meat, pies, speciality bread, jams and fresh flowers,” he said.
“As well as the opportunity to buy the freshest local food there will be the chance to try before you buy and learn the best ways of cooking what you have bought,” he said.
“As well as the food stalls there will be entertainment throughout the day as well as activities for children to get involved with,” Cllr Vickers continued.
A second Food Festival, the Waterside Food Festival, will take place along the Ropewalk Promenade on Sunday, August 10 between 10am and 4pm.
