The Ropewalk seeks entries for its Open Print Exhibition
The Ropewalk in Barton upon Humber is hosting its biennial Open Print Exhibition during the summer months.
The exhibition, which runs from Saturday, June 7, to Sunday, September 7, will be held in both GalleryOne and Artspace and will feature a comprehensive range of what is best in contemporary printmaking, said Ropewalk Director and Exhibitions Officer, Richard Hatfield.
Artists are invited to submit up to a maximum of four works with an entry fee of £3 for each and all original printmaking methods will be accepted.
“All works must orginate and be conceived as a print and produced in a limited quanity,” said Richard.
“Here at The Ropewalk we have a long-standing commitment to promote print-making and are pleased to give this opportunity to regional artists and those from further afield to display the results of their work,” he continued.
Handing in dates are from Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24 from 10am until 5pm and on Sunday, May 25, and Monday, May 26, from 10am until 4pm.
Two printmakers Melvyn Petterson and Alf Ludlam who both have roots in the area will be selecting the work to go on display on Friday, May 30.
Melvyn was born in Cleethorpes and studied at Grimsby and Camberwell Schools of Art before setting up Artichoke Print Workshop in south London in 1993. He has work in the collection of the British Museum and is a member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers and the New English Art Club while Alf also studied at Grimsby School of Art and at Camberwell. He has exhibited at the South London Gallery; the Minories, Colchester; the Royal Academy; the Usher Gallery, Lincoln and numerous local exhibitions.
