Workshops at The Ropewalk
Alison Walling will be leading a Christmas themed workshop, Willow Christmas Wreaths and Decorations, at The Ropewalk in the run up to the festive season.
On Saturday December 14 she will be demonstrating how to make circular and heart-shaped wreaths and then decorating them with greenery and berries. And there may also be time to make stars and wands.
Alison is a great admirer of willow in all its many varieties and forms and she not only makes structures out of living willow but also leads workshop in a wide range of willow work including basket making.
In late November, Ropewalk studio artist and feltmaker Wendy Chan will be taking a workshop, Seamless Feltmaking.
Textile artist and maker, Wendy, has a passion for processes and techniques in feltmaking she will be using the no-seams method of wet feltmaking to create a unique cover or slip case for a technical gadget or notebook. During the day, Saturday, November 23, she will explore prefelts and and will guide students through different techniques using just wool, olive soap and water.
Both workshops cost £35 or £32 for Ropewalk members and both run from 10.30am until 4.30pm. With Wendy’s workshop there will be an additional charge of £10 on the day for consumable materials.
