Inaugural Waterside Food Festival at Barton this Sunday
Final preparations are under way for Barton upon Humber’s Waterside Food Festival being held on Sunday. (Sept 15)
Raising funds for Scunthorpe’s Lindsey Lodge Hospice, the event takes place along The Ropewalk Promenade as well as Ropery Hall and the Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre between 10am and 4pm.
“Inside the Waters’ Edge Visitor Centre or walking down the Ropewalk Promenade you will find an array of jams, chutneys, marmalade, cheeses, meat, wines and beer as well as functional tableware by well-known potters and decorative items for the kitchen or dining room,” she said.
“As well as food producers we will have cookery demonstrations by baker Mervyn Austin, chefs Nigel Brown and Colin McGurran and chocolatier Fiona Sciolti in Ropery Hall and in the Education Room at Waters’ Edge Kirsty Champ will be demonstrating cooking fish for beginners.
Artist Carolyn Short will also be in the Education Room at Waters’ Edge with a free children’s craft activity showing how to make your own food badge.
The Earthbound Misfits will be entertaining at both sites starting at 11am along the Promenade with entertainment from a 10 foot chef and a rather smaller waiter and again at 2pm at Waters’ Edge when the Misfits present The Chef Show where world renowned chefs Pierre Spatula and Jean Claude Baguette prepare a juggling culinary delight, including the death defying flaming baguette finale
“We hope people will support the Festival and at the same time help raise funds for our local hospice which costs £3.50 every minute to run,” Liz went on.
