At the heart of Gills’ work is a ringing consistency of ideas: of time, place, space and light and how to unify them to create works which speak to our contemporary world and ways of living.
Gill combines techniques and materials, constructing many separate elements to create cohesive wholes, constantly seeking new arrangements and forms which capture the particular qualities of her medium. Influenced by her work with architectural space, recent works play with ideas of light and time, referencing the rhythms and patterns of nature.
In natural light, each work evolves over time to reveal a subtle yet constantly changing picture plane, whilst directional light brings new drama – life and movement over time become integral to each piece.
Creating artworks of elegant simplicity which re-establish connections with the rhythms of the everyday, each artwork is a unique celebration of colour, pattern and form through light.
