New exhibitions at The Ropewalk, Barton upon Humber
A collection of new work by the Lindum Textile Artists is the second exhibition within seven days to open at The Ropewalk in Barton upon Humber.
In Our Element is a new collection of members’ work which shows their broad range of textile media.
“Lindum Textile Artists are a collective of contemporary designer/makers who have a diversity of practice and approach,” said The Ropewalk’s Exhibition Officer, Richard Hatfield.
Established in 2000 and based in Lincolnshire the group is drawn from a wide geographical area with each artist drawing on their experiences, emotions and expertise to create a range of visually exciting and stimulating art.
The show, in Gallery One, opens on Saturday (April 30) and continues until June 5.
Michael Scrimshaw’s exhibition Things That Make Us Tick, which opened last Saturday, continues his theme of mechanical exhibits which began in 2007 with his first one-man show The Giant Sleeps.
“All of the free-standing exhibits are made up of scrap – I think Michael must have scoured his garden, kitchen and garage for this larger than life exhibition,” continued Richard.
“Most of the exhibits are based on the human figure and they are weird and wonderful contraptions in the Heath Robinson mode.”
In addition the exhibition contains some of Michael’s paintings and drawings and can be viewed in the Artspace until Sunday May 29.
