New
Exhibitions
The first exhibitions
for 2008 at Ropewalk Contemporary Art & Craft in Barton on
Humber will open on Saturday 12 January at 10.30am. There is a
North Lincolnshire feel to the start of the year with Printmaker
Christopher Roantree showing in Galleryone and Xceptional designs
in the Artspace.
Christopher Roantree
studied printmaking at Lincoln and the Royal College in London.
Originally from Scunthorpe Christopher now returns to the area
he is familiar with to show his latest collection of works.
Xceptional designs
aka Alex Hallowes and Pete Rogers of New Holland will be showing
their witty teddy bear exhibition ‘ If you go down to the
woods…’ in the Artspace. These are bears with a difference,
intriguing, clever and very amusing. Working in metal, ceramics
and with found objects the exhibition will be fun for the whole
family and will also include a change to add your own bear idea
to a large frieze.

“I am delighted
to welcome Christopher to exhibit at The Ropewalk, this is not
the first time he has shown work here but it will be his first
solo show. The quality of his printmaking and drawing is superb
and an inspiration to others. Pete and Alex have developed the
bear show in so many different materials it is a testament to
their skills and abilities as makers and artists. I am looking
forward to adding my contribution to the ‘bear wall’
on January 12.”
Entry to The Ropewalk
is free and the centre is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am –
5pm and Sundays 10am – 4pm.
