Barton
Film Group in the Frame
Barton Film Group who are based at The Ropewalk
on Maltkiln Road have been awarded £7,586 by lottery funders
Awards for All. The funding is to upgrade the equipment used at
Ropery Hall for the fortnightly film showings and to contract
film makers Blueprint Film to work with six community groups in
the area to develop their own short promotional film.
Group treasurer Liz Bennet said:
“I was delighted when the letter arrived
announcing the award. I will be talking to local groups to see
if they wish to make a film about the work they do. The project
was inspired by a short promotional film produced by Anthony Berridge
and the Friends of the Barton Line. Their film was shown before
the main film at a railway themed evening in May of this year
and I thought it would be a great idea to give other groups the
same opportunity. We hope that the 6 groups will use the film
to encourage volunteers and increase their profiles. The films
will be made by Blueprint Film and we hope that they will be shown
prior to main screenings at The Ropewalk as well as being used
on the internet.”
Liz Bennet continued
“The news of the award was great but then I received more
good news last week from Awards for All. The grant was the 10,000
award in the Yorkshire and Humber region and Awards for All regional
director would like to celebrate by coming to Barton to present
the cheque to the group in person. I hope that our regular film
audience members will join us on Thursday 29th November at 1pm
for a slice of Awards for All cake and perhaps stay for the film
matinee Woody Allen’s ‘Manhattan’.”
