Visitors
flock to The Ropewalk
The Ropewalk,
the popular arts and crafts centre in Barton upon Humber, is to
open seven days a week from later this month.
At the beginning
of the year the centre on Maltkiln Road announced its highest
ever visitor numbers since it opened in April 2000 with 33,633
recorded visits.
And already
figures for the first quarter of this year are up 35 per cent
on the same period this year.
Director Richard
Hatfield commented: “Until now we have opened from Tuesday
to Sunday and on Bank Holiday Mondays but from Monday, May 12,
we shall be open seven days a week.”
Mr Hatfield
believes that the introduction of more events at Ropery Hall and
the opening of the Ropery Coffee Shop just over a year ago have
added to the numbers of those who make a visit to The Ropewalk
on a regular basis.
“We
are delighted that visitor figures have increased so much and
we are looking forward to opening seven days a week,” he
said.
“Just
three years ago The Ropewalk employed a handful of staff and it
now employs 27 local people. We are aware that expansion of this
kind can change the feel of an organisation but our staff is professional
and enthusiastic and we hope to maintain the same level of customer
service we have offered since 2000,” Mr Hatfield went on.
Opening hours
for The Ropewalk, including the Ropery Coffee Shop, will be from
May 12, Monday to Saturday 10am until 5pm and from Sunday 10am
until 4pm.
