New
season for Barton film goers
Films at The Ropewalk in Barton upon Humber will be returning
in the autumn for a third year.
Following
a successful grant application to Screen Yorkshire, the Barton
Film Group is now putting together a programme of films for the
autumn season in the Ropery Hall.
Film Group spokesman, Treasurer Liz Bennet, said “We were
delighted to receive support from the Regional Investment Fund
England in the sum of £2,850.
“We
are now in a position, thanks to the financial investment from
Screen Yorkshire, to be able to put together an autumn season
at Ropery Hall which, we hope, will include both modern and classic
films including those that will not be screened elsewhere in the
area,” she went on.
“Our
aim is to provide an alternative to main stream cinema.”
Included in
the new season will be recent releases such as There Will Be Blood
and No Country for Old Men that have so far not been screened
in the Scunthorpe area.
This year
there will be no matinee performances because, as Liz explains,
there had been so many filmgoers who had requested every film
should be screened in an evening so they could be there.
The new season
will begin on Thursday, September 11 and will continue every Thursday
evening until Thursday, November 27 and after a Christmas break
will begin again on January 8.
Admission
for the 2008/2009 season will be just £3 and the bar will
be serving both alcoholic and soft drinks.
The 2008 spring
season of film screenings has just ended, and included the award-winning
Atonement, and classics such as North by Northwest.
