Welcome to the Ropery Hall Website
Here we are again, another year, another Ropery Hall programme. 2010 is a landmark
year for The Ropewalk as the gallery celebrates its 10th anniversary in April.
Thank you for all your positive feedback about events over the last few months
and I hope you agree that the programme is again a wide and varied mix of quality
music, film, theatre and of course, comedy.
During the autumn, Ropewalk Events was successful with an application to Arts
Council England which will allow us to install a new sound system and to develop
a more diverse programme including a jazz partnership with J-Nights, the
organisation that programmes Hull Truck Jazz and Hull Jazz festival. I am personally
excited about this partnership which will bring top internationally known musicians
to the venue.
So what have we got in store for you? Music comes in all forms: blues, folk,
smooth jazz, up-tempo jazz, great British songwriters and American imports. Add
to that mix stand up comedy, sit down poetry, marauding Vikings, intergalactic
theatre, Edward Fox and two very entertaining tartan clad socks.
It’s all good! No need for me to select a highlight, in fact I don’t think in all honesty
I can. As a bonus to our regular customers we are introducing a loyalty card,
attend nine events and get the tenth free.
You may notice that our film programme ends in March; this is so we can keep
our films as current as possible and our April films will be announced in
February and published on the website.
Finally, on behalf of myself and the Ropewalk Event directors, Janine &
Richard, a big thank you to all of you who keep supporting live performance at
Ropery Hall and we look forward to seeing you soon.
