China Painting with Don Ball
The china painter’s class was founded by the late Brenda Payne in 1987.
We are a group of mature china painters who meet every Monday in unit 9, 10am to 12 noon and 1pm to 3pm.
The paints we use are made up of coloured pigments mixed with oil base media or water based medium dependent upon the subject being painted. These are classified as ‘on glaze’ enamels. We work on a very wide variety of China or Porcelain, ie Tiles, Plates, Saucers, and Mugs of all Shapes and Sizes.
We fire all our own work very week, so if you don’t have a kiln we can fire it for you at a reasonable cost. For further details come along to see us on a Monday, we will make you most welcome

Whether you are a complete beginner or already writing, why not kick start 2016 with a Creative Writing course? Each of the eight weekly sessions will provide triggers / stimuli for creativity and focus on one aspect of writing, for example learning how the dramatic monologue works, looking at opportunities for getting your work into print and exploring if and when poetry should rhyme! Whatever form you favour – prose (fiction or non-fiction), poetry or script – the emphasis will be on producing crafted pieces of writing. A friendly atmosphere guarantees that each participant can progress at her / his own pace while accessing professional support.

Writing can be an isolating activity and it’s sometimes difficult to be objective about what you’ve produced. This group, meeting monthly, will offer participants the opportunity to have their work – which can be prose, poetry or script – read and critiqued by others in the group. Sessions will be chaired by local writer Sue Wilsea who will offer some ideas for unblocking creativity but most of each two hour session will be devoted to the offering of constructive criticism on work in progress.
