Welcome
to the new Ropewalk Website
Ropewalk Contemporary Art & Craft is a regionally acclaimed centre
for the visual arts housing three galleries within a Grade II listed former
rope factory.
The Ropewalk is situated slightly to the east of the Humber Bridge, on
the southern bank of the River Humber (to see a map, click here).
Stretching out towards the bank, at almost a quarter of a mile long, The
Ropewalk was initially part of a rope making factory; opening in 1801,
the factory eventually closed in 1989.
Facilities include a bespoke picture framing department, a print making
workshop, artists studios and meeting rooms available for outside lets.
2006 saw the addition of a number of new attractions including the Garden
Gallery, Coffee Shop and Ropery Hall - a venue for live music, theatre
& cinema.
