Hazel Burnham With a background in ceramics, creative embroidery and photography and an interest since childhood in glass, Hazel took a place at the International Glass Centre in the West Midlands where she studied Glass Technology and Techniques from 2003-2004. In 2005 she was awarded a grant by the Arts Council for an architectural kiln. Primarily creating kiln formed glass items such as panels, dishes and pictures, Hazel seeks to bring fun, colour and vibrancy to her work. The process of transforming the glass through melting it in the kiln is always a magical one. The pieces of glass change from being sharp, cut and broken to melt together to make a tactile and colourful work, full of light and colour. Constantly inspired by life around her, Hazel’s current themes are taken from city life, landscape and the coast. For more information
