Jeweller of the Month

Ellen Monaghan

Ellen found her passion for jewellery design while living in Norfolk. She moved to London to do her BA in Silversmithing Jewellery and Allied Crafts at The Cass, London Metropolitan University. After Graduating in 2006 Ellen has gone on to own her own business and trade all around the country.

Each piece of Ellen’s jewellery is handmade referencing her observational drawings of architecture and ironwork, created using a sketch-like making process with square wire.

Using tumbling chains of unique links that are incorporated with precious gemstones to create necklaces that change when the wearer moves. The rings and earrings create lines that guide the eye across the hands and neck playing with space, connecting the flowing lines of the body and the jewellery.

Ellen launched her collection of urban ironwork inspired jewellery in 2014 naming the collection ‘Angles & Curls’ referencing the lines integral to the work. She is now working on a new project which is inspired by the iconic Paisley Pattern and incorporates its artistic heritage.
